Feast of the Epiphany is an unusual story about a clutch of immortals who work for the Roman Catholic Church as killers of rogue immortals. Though they have fangs and feed from humans, these are no ordinary vampires, and that word is never used to describe them. They feed not from blood but from aetherium or chi, people’s subtle energy. They can feed through blood, but it is frowned upon. Only those who are falling into darkness take blood to feed. The story involves a love triangle, some hot sex, a particularly brutal and disturbing black magic crucifixion and a battle with creepy vampire-like foes and a huge demon. The story is full of surprises, particularly the end, and is well written, though in a clipped style. I think it would be enjoyed by any urban fantasy fan, especially those who like a little Christian mysticism in their stories.
